The Fairtrade Foundation is the independent certification body that awards the FAIRTRADE Mark to products that meet up specific standards. The Foundation describes and the Mark as 'the only independent consumer label which appears on products as a guarantee that disadvantaged producers are getting a better deal'. The standards which include 'a fair and stable price' paid to farmers for their products and a strict environmental standards. In the UK, one in four bananas sold is Fairtrade certified. The list of products in certified by the Foundation is growing and as well as coffee, tea, chocolate and bananas, it now includes the beauty products and cotton. All the major British supermarket chains they now stock Fairtrade products.
