About the year 1900, people in London often saw a small boy waiting outside the London theatres. He looked very thin, but his blue eyes were determine(坚定). His name was Charlie Chaplin. He was there because he hoped to get work in show business. His father had died for drinking too much wine. His mother was not able to look after him and his brother because she was often sick. It was not easy to get a job. Charlie had to dance in the streets to make money for food. When he was 17, he went to America. A film director(导演) saw him acting a very funny part in a play. So Chaplin got his first film part. During his lifetime, he played in 13 movies. He was one of the greatest actors. He once wrote: “You have to believe in yourself. Even when I was dancing in the streets to make money to keep alive, I thought of myself as the greatest actor in the world." He died in 1977 at the age of 88. The whole world was very sad at the news of his death.
