Shopping online My father and I were on holiday in America. My mother stayed at home and on the 2nd day she fell and broke her leg. She didn’t want to ask the neighbors to do the shopping because she is a very independent lady. On our return after three weeks to the USA, we saw that the living room was full of boxes and wrapping paper. My mother told us about how she broke her leg. “What about the shopping? Did you ask the neighbors for help?” I asked as the doorbell rang. “There’s your answer,” said my mother. I opened the door and there was a man with a big box of groceries. “Delivery for Mrs. Patterson,” he said. “That is amazing,” I said. “Did you just phone in your order? How did you know what was on offer?” “I ordered online. Look here, this is the supermarket’s homepage with all their offers. I just click on the articles I want, pay by credit card and my groceries are delivered the same day. Great, eh?” “That is amazing. I didn’t know any of our supermarkets did that. But Mum, where do all these empty boxes come from?” “While I was surfing the Net, I found out how easy it is to order things at Amazon and I spent hours buying things on eBay. That is so much fun!”
