Healthy China 2030 is the first medium to long term strategic plan in the health sector developed at the national level since the founding of China in 1949. Furthermore it also indicates the political commitment of China to participate in Global Health Governance, and fulfil the UN SDG agenda. Healthy China 2030 aims to promote healthy lifestyles, improve health services and the health industry, & build a sustainable health system to provide essential health services to every citizen by 2020 and reach the main health indicators of high income countries by 2030. The plan is based on 4 core principles—health as a priority, reform and innovation, scientific development, & equity & justice—& five strategic goals. To monitor and evaluate these goals, 13 indicators in 5 fields were set to be achieved by 2020 & 2030. The development of a 'Healthy China' is central to the Chinese Government's agenda for health and development – and has the potential to reap huge benefits for the rest of the world.
