In 1883, a creative engineer named John Roebing had an idea to build a bridge connecting New York with the Long Island. 1 bridge building experts thought that this was impossible and told Roebing to 2 the idea. Roebing knew deep in his 3 that it could be done. He just had to 4 the dream with some else. After 5 discussion, he managed to 6 his son Washington that the bridge in fact could be built. With great 7 , the father and the son 8 their engineers and began to build their dream bridge. The project started 9 , but when it was only a few months underway a 10 accident on the site took the life of John Roebing. Washington 11 also injured and left with brain damage, 12 resulted in him not being able to talk 13 walk. Washington was never dscouraged and still had a 14 desire to complete the bridge. All he could do was 15 one finger and he decided to make the best use of it. He slowly developed a 16 of communication with his wife. He touched his wife's arm 17 to tell the engineers what to do. For thirteen years Washington tapped out his 18 with his finger on his wife's arm, 19 with his finger on his wife's arm, 20 the bridge was finally completed.
