有一位先生为外国朋友订做生日蛋糕。他来到一家酒店的餐厅,对服务员小姐说:“小姐,您好,我要为一位外国朋友订一份生日蛋糕,同时打一份贺卡,你看可以吗?”小姐接过订单一看,忙说:“对不起,请问先生您的朋友是小姐还是太太?”这位先生也不清楚这位外国朋友结婚没有,从来没有打听过,他为难地抓了抓后脑勺想想,说:“小姐?太太?一大把岁数了,太太。”生日蛋糕做好后,服务员小姐按地址到酒店客房送生日蛋糕。敲门后,一女子开门,服务员有礼貌地说:“请问,您是怀特太太吗?”女子愣了愣,不高兴地说:“错了!”服务员小姐丈二和尚摸不着头脑,抬头看看门牌号,再回头打个电话问那位先生,没错,房间号码没错。再敲一遍,开门,“没错,怀特太太,这是您的蛋糕”。那女子大声说:“告诉你错了,这里只有怀特小姐,没有怀特太太!”啪一声,门被大力关上了。
