It is reported that more than three-fifths of Chinese school children rely on extra tuition( 补习 ) to improve their grades. It is also widespread in other Asian countries. These countries have one thing in common: parents in these countries place much importance on children’s learning and education. They are ready to make every sacrifice( 牺牲 ) if they can get their children into a university locally or abroad. So far as I can see, this practice can do more harm than good. It has brought more pressure on students. The quality of school life is affected as students have to do with additional learning outside the classroom. They have no time to enjoy their interests after school or during vacations.
