The Tucson shooting was reported as an attempt to assassinate (暗杀) the US Representative Gabrielle Giffords. On January 8, 2011, Giffords was holding a meeting in a parking lot in Tucson, Arizona, the United States. Jared Lee Loughner, a 23-year-old man, shot Giffords in the head and then fired on other people. Thirteen people were injured and six others were killed in the shooting. Giffords was in condition and was sent to hospital immediately. She eventually survived. During the shooting, many people behaved bravely and are now hailed as heroes. There were the two loving husbands who threw themselves in front of their wives to shield them from Loughner’s bullets and one of them lost his life. There was the young intern, Daniel Hernandez, who ran through the bullets to save Gabrielle Giffords. All these people have shown that an ordinary person can do extraordinary deeds.
